Dick Kampa was born in 1936. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958. Dick worked for his father at Granite City Livestock Sales and eventually became owner/operator of the business in 1979. He and his wife, Anna Mae, enjoyed antiquing throughout the years.
They moved to Cold Spring in 1974. In early 1985, he was fortunate to retire at age 48.
Dick enjoyed attending baseball games and became a huge fan of the Cold Spring Springers. He also enjoyed tending to summer flowers and chatting with neighbors. He loved spending time with his grand/great-grandkids when they came back to Minnesota, especially during the holidays.
Dick passed away May 30, 2016 at age 80. He had three children: LeeAnn Backes, Lynette Brannan and Randy Kampa.
